Haridwar Storm Women showcased composure and balance to script a 6-wicket win over Mussoorie Thunders Women in match 4 of the Women’s Uttarakhand Premier League (WUPL) 2025.

Batting first, Mussoorie Thunders Women posted 100/9 in their 20 overs. Their innings was a stop-start affair, with partnerships failing to build but individuals stepping up at crucial moments. Opener Shagun Chaudhary fell early for 8, but her partner Reena Jindal provided some momentum with a steady 23 off 25 balls.
Kanchan Parihar (17) and Bhoomi Umar (12 off 15) chipped in with useful contributions, while Neelam Bisht played the standout knock of the innings. Her fluent 29 off just 21 balls gave the Thunder’s innings much-needed acceleration, ensuring they crossed the 100-run mark.
The Haridwar bowlers, however, ensured the Thunders never broke free. Ankita Shah was the wrecker-in-chief, producing a brilliant spell of 4/21. She bowled with precision, breaking partnerships just as they started to look threatening. Supporting her well, Divya Bohra picked up 3/14, putting constant pressure on the middle order.
Chasing 101 for victory, Haridwar Storm Women approached the task with calmness. They did lose opener Dipika Chand early for 4, but Jyoti Giri (17 off 22) gave them a steady start. Captain Sweta Verma then took charge with a composed 21 off 25, holding the innings together at a crucial juncture.
Once she departed, the experienced Kalpana Verma and the confident Kanak Tapraniya ensured there were no further hiccups. Kalpana anchored the chase with an unbeaten 22 off 28, while Kanak played a lively hand of 16* off just 15 balls. Together, they guided Haridwar to 101/4 in 17.3 overs, sealing a comfortable 6-wicket victory.
For the Mussoorie Thunders, their bowlers tried hard to defend the low total. Siddhi Pandey bowled with discipline, finishing with 1/15, while Tara Bisht (1/21) and Reena Jindal (1/26) also chipped in. But with only 100 runs to defend, the pressure was always on the bowlers, and Haridwar’s middle order made sure to capitalize.
In the end, the difference lay in the bowling units. While Mussoorie’s bowlers fought back, it was Haridwar’s attack – led by Ankita Shah and Divya Bohra – that set up the match and allowed their batters to chase with freedom. A disciplined performance with both ball and bat ensured Haridwar Storm Women walked away with a 6-wicket win and valuable momentum going forward.
