The 18th match of the inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup will be played between Bangladesh and the USA on January 18 at Willowmoore Park B Field in Benoni, South Africa. The game will begin at 1.30 PM IST (10 AM LOCAL).

Both teams have had contrasting starts to their World Cup campaign. While Bangladesh have won two out of their matches against Australia and Sri Lanka, the USA have suffered defeats against the same oppositions.

The right-handed opening batter of Bangladesh Women’s U19 bagged the player of the match award in her last match against Sri Lanka Women’s U19. She blasted 53 off 43, including five hits to the fence and clearing the rope thrice. She shared a 75-run stand with her opening partner Misty Shaha.

Marufa Akter: 

The right-arm speedster of Bangladesh Women’s U19 was the most successful bowler for her side in her last game against Sri Lanka Women’s U19. She opened the bowling and claimed 19/2 in four overs. She struck in the first over itself. She was also effective towards the fag end of the innings.

Snigdha Paul:

The dashing all-rounder of the USA Women’s U19 made valuable contributions with bat and ball in her last fixture against Australia Women’s U19. The left-handed middle-order batter tops-scored with 17 off 24, including one boundary. She also opened the bowling and claimed 21/1 in three overs, bowling right-arm seam.

Laasya Mullapudi:

The left-handed opening batter of the USA Women’s U19 was the only other batter apart from Snigdha Paul to score in double digits in the last fixture against Australia Women’s U19. She scored 10 off 14, hitting a couple of boundaries. She will be expected to give a steady start to her team.

Pitch

It will be the fifth game of the tournament here. The teams batting first have won one, and the teams batting second have won three matches so far. The surface looks good for batting and is likely to yield plenty of runs. The bowlers will have to work hard to get something out of the wicket.
