The sixth match of the inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup will be played between Ireland and West Indies on January 15 at North-West University No1 Ground in Potchefstroom, South Africa. The game will begin at 1.30 PM IST (10 AM LOCAL).

Both teams have played a couple of warm-up fixtures ahead of the World Cup. While Ireland have lost both their games against Pakistan and Rwanda, West Indies have won one against Zimbabwe and lost to England.

The right-handed opening batter of Ireland Women’s U19 starred with the bat in the second warm-up game against Rwanda Women’s U19. She mustered 41 and 47, including three hits to the fence. Ireland’s captain will be expected to get her team off to a good start.

The right-arm speedster of Ireland Women’s U19 has claimed three wickets in the two warm-up matches she has featured in. She has been consistent with her lines and lengths and can provide crucial breakthroughs to her team. She has been effective in the middle overs.

The right-handed top-order batter of West Indies Women’s U19 will be required to shoulder the batting responsibility of her side. In the two warm-up fixtures, she got off to steady starts. Besides her batting, she can roll her arm over to bowl right-arm off-spin.

The captain of West Indies Women’s U19 is a promising all-rounder who is a right-handed middle-order batter and a wily right-arm off-spinner. She will be expected to lead from the front with her all-round abilities. She has picked up a couple of wickets in the two warm-up fixtures.

Pitch

It will be the first game of the tournament at this venue. Before this, four women’s T20Is were played here, with the teams batting first and second, winning two apiece. All these games were played in 2010. Expect a fresh surface that will offer plenty of runs.
