Both sides made a couple of changes to their side. Charlotte Nevard replaced Rosie Speedy and Mollie Parker replaced Molly Barbour Smith in the starting 11 for Scotland. India on the other hand rested one of their premier wicket-takers in Joshitha VJ, replacing her with Sonam Yadav. Wicket-keeper batter Bhavika Ahire replaced Parunika Sisodia in the starting 11.

The Indian openers Gongadi Trisha and the wicket-keeper batter G Kamalini came out all guns blazing as the pair scored at a rate of almost 11 runs an over en route to their record-breaking highest-ever 147-run opening partnership, after skipper Niamh Muir won the toss and inserted them to bat first at the Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur. Maisie Maceira provided some respite by sending G Kamalini (51 off 42 balls) back to the pavilion to provide the first breakthrough for Scotland. She completed a well-crafted half-century before getting dismissed.

Sanika Chalke (29* off 20 balls) joined Gongadi Trisha at the crease and the pair led by Trisha continued to tear the Scotland bowlers apart, as India eventually breached the 200-run mark, ending their innings at 208/1 in the quota of 20 overs, the highest total of the ongoing 2nd edition of the tournament. It is also overall the 2nd highest total in the history of the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup, after India’s 219/3 against the UAE at Benoni on 16th January 2023 in the inaugural edition of the tournament.

Wicket-keeper batter Pippa Sproul joined Emma Walsingham at the crease and the duo formed another entertaining 20-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. A horrendous collapse followed which saw Scotland losing their last 8 wickets for just 25 runs and as a result, they were bundled out for 58 with 6 overs to spare, falling a massive 150 runs short of the target.
