Players to watch out:

Davina Perrin

The 18-year-old top-order batter in a T20 competition last year amassed 245 runs, at an average of 24.50 and a strike rate of 133.15, from 11 outings. Davina didn’t find much success in the inaugural edition; however, she impressed in a warm-up game with returns of 15(11) and 2/6 (2). She can be counted on to continue in this form, delivering the goods.

Tilly Corteen-Coleman

The 17-year-old left-arm spinner claimed 16 wickets, at an economy rate of 5.15, from 11 T20 outings in a competition last domestic season, and recorded the best of 5/19. In her only warm-up outing leading up to the World Cup, Tilly recorded economical bowling figures of 0/13 (4) and can be relied upon to lead the tally, producing breakthroughs.

Alice Walsh

The 18-year-old batter didn’t feature in many games leading to this World Cup but chipped in with scores of 25 and 12 in her limited appearances. Nonetheless, Alice registered scores of 17(14) and 26*(21) in the warm-up games, opening the batting, and it is hoped she builds on this form, notching up substantial scores in subsequent outings.

Freya Sargent

The 18-year-old right-arm off-spinner, from 28 international outings with the senior team, has taken as many wickets and produced the best of 3/29. Freya also featured in U19 games and, against Jersey, produced figures of 3/3 and 5/12, while also finding success against South Africa. She can also be handy with the bat and trusted with all-round efforts.

Pitch:

The 22 yards at Johor Cricket Academy Oval offer greater assistance to bowlers than to batters. The average score at the venue is only a modest total in the 110s, and batters will need to display discipline and skill to post a competitive total on this wicket.

Weather:

Thunderstorms on the radar pose a threat to the game, with the match likely to be washed out. The temperature is expected to hover around 27°C, with light winds and humidity at 89%.
