Cricket West Indies (CWI) has unveiled the West Indies U19 Women’s squad set to compete in the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, 2025. This tournament represents a significant milestone for women’s cricket in the Caribbean, offering young players the chance to demonstrate their skills on an international platform.
The team will be led by captain Samara Ramnath and vice-captain Asabi Callender, who were officially presented with their jerseys during a special ceremony.
Highlighting the significance of this milestone, CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe shared his thoughts, “We are proud to announce our Under-19 Women’s squad for the ICC World Cup 2025, which represents the future of West Indies cricket. The West Indies U19 women’s squad has been hard at work preparing for this international challenge. Their training regimen included specialized camps at the Coolidge Cricket Ground and tours aimed at sharpening their skills and building team cohesion.
Bascombe further expressed pride in the regional representation within the squad, “The inclusion of players from across the region demonstrates our commitment to nurturing talent from all our territories. We are confident they can compete at the highest level while gaining valuable international experience. The future of West Indies women’s cricket looks bright with these promising young athletes.”

The team will travel to Malaysia on January 1, embarking on a pre-tournament camp from January 5 to 10. This will be followed by two warm-up matches – against Nepal on January 13 and New Zealand on January 15 – before their campaign officially begins on January 19.
The ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 will feature 16 teams from around the world. West Indies have been placed in Group A, competing against India, Sri Lanka, and hosts Malaysia in the group phase from January 19 to 23. The group stage matches are scheduled as follows: West Indies will face India on 19 January, Sri Lanka on 20 January, and Malaysia on 25 January.
The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super 6, where points and net run rates from the group stages will carry over. The tournament’s semifinals are set for January 31, with the grand finale scheduled for February 2 at the Bayuemas Oval in Malaysia.
With a talented 15-player squad and five additional reserves, the West Indies U19 women’s team is ready to take on the world. As they prepare to represent the Caribbean with pride, the entire region eagerly anticipates witnessing the next generation of cricketing stars make their mark on the international stage.
