Players to watch out:

Emma McLeod

The 18-year-old opening batter in the 2024-25 New Zealand domestic One Day competition registered scores of 25, 41, 35, 35, 3, and 68*, just days out from this competition. Emma carried the momentum into the warm-up games, registering scores of 50(42) and 6(10), and can be counted on to lead the scoring, while also chipping in with the ball.

Anika Todd

The 18-year-old all-rounder, in a T20 tournament early last year, registered scores of 25*, 21, 15, and 10, while also producing bowling figures of 2/16, 0/21, and 1/9 against senior national squads. In the World Cup warm-up games, she has returned figures of 2/3 (1) and 1/13 (2), alongside scores of 20*(17) and 10(11). She can be trusted for all-round efforts.

Kayla Reyneke

The 19-year-old all-rounder, from 5 T20s in a recent U19 competition, racked up 206 runs at an average of 51.50 and a strike rate of 148.20, while also taking 6 wickets, maintaining an economy rate of 5.65. Kayla continued this form into this campaign, scoring 47(26) and returning figures of 0/18 (2) in the warm-up game. She can be relied upon for the goods.

Fay Cowling

The 17-year-old pacer, in an U19 T20 competition late last year, struck 7 wickets from 5 outings, at an average of 11.71 and an economy rate of 5.85. Fay bowled only an over in her only warm-up outing but has good domestic cricket experience under her belt. She will be relied upon for wickets and handy runs lower down the order.

Pitch:

The center wicket at the Borneo Cricket Ground heavily favors the pacers, creating ideal conditions for bowling, as evident from the average score of 110. However, batters, once they settle in and find their rhythm, can accumulate runs effectively.

Weather:

The conditions aren’t ideal for a complete game in Kuching, with cloudy skies and showers spells on the radar. The temperature is expected to be around 27°C, with light winds and 89% humidity.

Fantasy playing XI:

Karabo Meso, Tash Wakelin, Eve Wolland, Emma McLeod, Anika Todd, Fay Cowling, Jemma Botha, Ashleigh van Wyk, Kayla Reyneke, Rishika Jaswal, Seshnie Naidu
