Esha Oza and Kavisha Egodage’s all-round heroics power UAE to back-to-back victories

The United Arab Emirates led by skipper Esha Oza clinched a convincing 15-run victory against the hosts, Namibia led by skipper Sune Wittmann in the 4th match of the Tri-series. Skipper Esha Oza was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant match-winning all-round performance, scoring (42 off 40 balls) with the bat and returning with brilliant match figures (4-0-29-3) with the ball.

Zimbabwe led by skipper Chiedza Dhururu was up against the United Arab Emirates in the 5th match of the tri-series at the Wanderers Cricket Ground, Windhoek. United Arab Emirates skipper Esha Oza won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, Zimbabwe got off to a poor start as they lost the wicket of their opening batter Kelis Ndhlovu in the 2nd over of the innings. Kavisha Egodage provided the first breakthrough for the UAE.

Wicket-keeper batter Modester Mupachikwa joined Beloved Biza at the crease and the duo stitched a massive 74-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to take their side close to the 100-run mark. Skipper Esha Oza picked up the wicket of the wicket-keeper batter Modester Mupachikwa (25) to provide the much-needed 2nd breakthrough for her side. Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano joined Beloved Biza at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 20-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to take their side past the 100-run mark.

Kavisha Egodage returned and cleaned up Beloved Biza (48) to provide the 3rd breakthrough for the United Arab Emirates. Zimbabwe eventually ended up with a total of 145/5 in their quota of 20 overs, courtesy of a 30-run 5th wicket partnership between Tawananyasha Marumani and Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano. The partnership played a crucial role in helping their side post a competitive total on the board.

Beloved Biza (48 off 43 balls), Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano (40* off 25 balls), and wicket-keeper batter Modester Mupachikwa (25 off 32 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Zimbabwe. Kavisha Egodage (4-0-32-2), skipper Esha Oza (4-0-30-1), Indhuja Nandakumar (4-0-27-0), and Heena Hotchandani (3-0-15-0) were the top performers with the ball for the United Arab Emirates.

Chasing a target of 146, the UAE openers, wicket-keeper batter Theertha Satish, and skipper Esha Oza got off to a steady start with a 14-run opening partnership. UAE suffered a double blow as they lost their wicket-keeper batter Theertha Satish courtesy of a run-out and Rinitha Rajith in the 2nd over of the run chase.

Kavisha Egodage joined skipper Esha Oza at the crease and the duo took the fizz out of the run chase by stitching a massive 119-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Kelis Ndhlovu picked up the big wicket of the opposition skipper Esha Oza (84) to provide the much-needed 3rd breakthrough for Zimbabwe. UAE eventually managed to get over the line with five wickets in hand on the last ball of the run chase courtesy of a solid fightback towards the latter half of the innings by the Zimbabwe bowlers.

Skipper Esha Oza (84 off 65 balls), and Kavisha Egodage (49* off 48 balls), were the top performers with the bat for the United Arab Emirates. Lindokuhle Mabhero (4-0-25-1), Beloved Biza (4-0-21-0), Kelis Ndhlovu (2-0-15-1), and Josephine Nkomo (4-0-38-1) were the top performers with the ball for Zimbabwe.

The UAE skipper Esha Oza was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant all-round performance. She returned with match figures (4-0-30-1) with the ball and scored a brilliant (84 off 65 balls) with the bat. She yet again led from the front to help her side clinch back-to-back victories in the ongoing Tri-series.
