Esha Oza’s all-round show guides UAE to a comfortable victory against Namibia

Namibia led by skipper Sune Wittmann stunned Zimbabwe led by skipper Chiedza Dhururu, as the hosts emerged victorious by three wickets in the 3rd match of the series. The United Arab Emirates led by skipper Esha Oza, were up against Namibia in the 4th match of the series at the Wanderers Cricket Ground, Windhoek.

Namibia skipper Sune Wittmann won the toss and opted to field first in the 4th match of the series at the Wanderers Cricket Ground. After being inserted to bat first, the United Arab Emirates openers wicket-keeper batter Theertha Satish and skipper Esha Oza got their side off to a flying start, with a massive 95-run opening partnership, setting a solid platform for a massive total on the board. The duo was scoring over 10 runs an over. Saima Tuhadeleni picked up the wicket of the wicket-keeper batter Theertha Satish (41) to provide the much-needed first breakthrough for Namibia.

The United Arab Emirates suffered a mini collapse as they lost their next three wickets, for just 13 runs. They also lost the wicket of their skipper Esha (42) to bring the hosts, Namibia firmly back into the contest. Samaira Dharnidharka joined Heena Hotchandani at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 20-run partnership for the 5th wicket to take their side close to the 130-run mark, before the latter was found short of her crease, to provide the 5th breakthrough for Namibia.

The United Arab Emirates was eventually bundled out for 141, in their quota of overs. UAE suffered a horrible collapse as they lost their last five wickets for just 13 runs. Skipper Esha Oza (42 off 40 balls), wicket-keeper batter Theertha Satish (41 off 25 balls), and Samaira Dharnidharka (11 off 21 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the United Arab Emirates. Jurriene Diergaardt (4-0-15-4), Saima Tuhadeleni (4-0-36-3), and Wilka Mwatile (4-0-21-2) were the top performers with the ball for Namibia.

Chasing a target of 142, the Namibian openers Yasmeen Khan and skipper Sune Wittmann got their side off to a decent start with a 21-run opening partnership. Heena Hotchandani picked up the big wicket as she cleaned up the opposition skipper Sune Wittmann to provide the first breakthrough for the United Arab Emirates. Wilka Mwatile joined Yasmeen Khan at the crease and the duo stitched a 19-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to take their side close to the 50-run mark.

Vaishnave Mahesh picked up the wicket of Yasmeen Khan to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side. Sylvia Shihepo soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 3rd breakthrough for the United Arab Emirates. Jurriene Diergaardt joined Wilka Mwatile at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 25-run partnership for the 4th wicket to take their side close to the 100-run mark.

Namibia was restricted to 126/7 in their quota of overs, falling short of the target by 15 runs. Wilka Mwatile (31 off 38 balls), Edelle van Zyl (23 off 18 balls), Yasmeen Khan (20 off 23 balls), skipper Sune Wittmann (17 off 12 balls), and wicket-keeper batter Merczerly Gorases (14* off 9 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Namibia. Skipper Esha Oza (4-0-29-3), Heena Hotchandani (4-0-11-1), Kavisha Egodage (4-0-19-1), and Vaishnave Mahesh (2-0-18-2) were the top performers with the ball for the United Arab Emirates.

Skipper Esha Oza was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant all-rounder performance. She scored (42 off 40 balls) with the bat and returned with a brilliant spell (4-0-29-3) with the ball. She played a crucial role in helping her side get over the line against a spirited performance from the hosts Namibia.
