Laura Delany
The 31-year-old all-rounder in T20Is, from 89 innings, has amassed 1288 runs and scalped 84 wickets from 94 outings, registering respective bests of 70* and 4/12. Laura had a quiet start to the ’24 domestic season; however, in the T20 opener, while departing cheaply for 7, she compensated with the ball by taking 3 wickets and can be counted on for the goods.
Freya Sargent
The 18-year-old all-rounder has played only a handful of T20Is, taking 3 wickets while maintaining an economy rate of 4.93. Freya had a decent showing in the One Day matches earlier in this domestic competition, and in her first T20 outing, while she didn’t take a wicket, she sent down an economical spell, returning figures of 0/20 (4). She’ll be backed to return amongst the wickets.
Orla Prendergast
The 22-year-old all-rounder, from 50 T20I outings, has posted 962 runs at an average of 24.05. She has also struck 29 wickets from 40 innings, with bests of 75* and 3/10. While Orla hasn’t taken many wickets this domestic season, she has been among the runs, including in the T20 opening round where she registered scores of 9 and 60*. She can be relied upon for all-round efforts.
Alana Dalzell
The 23-year-old pacer, from 8 T20Is, has struck 7 scalps, including a best of 2/8, maintaining an economy rate of 5.26. Alana had a notable first-leg One Day campaign, taking 4 wickets, and from her couple of T20 outings, she has bagged as many wickets. She can also be handy with the bat on a few occasions, but it’ll be hoped she steps up her efforts with the ball, building on this form.
Pitch:
The Malahide wicket heavily favors the pacers, creating ideal conditions for bowling, as evident from the average score in the 110s. Batters will need to dig in with smart shot selection to score runs effectively.
