The Sri Lankan women’s team, led by Chamari Athapaththu, were last involved in the 9th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Lankan lionesses came into the tournament with high expectations after winning their first-ever Women’s T20 Asia Cup title by beating India in the final.
However, they had a contrasting campaign in the T20 World Cup as they remained winless in the four games they played in group A, and as a result, they were knocked out of the tournament.

As far as the ODI format is concerned, they were last involved in a three-match series against Ireland in August last year. They ended up conceding the ODI series by a 2-1 margin.
In their next assignment, the Chamari Athapaththu-led side will travel to New Zealand for a bilateral white-ball series that includes a three-match ODI series followed by a three-match T20I series. The last time Sri Lanka travelled to New Zealand was way back in November 2015.
