Opting to bat first, South Africa’s innings opened with captain Laura Wolvaardt and Anneke Bosch. The opening pair added 35 runs before Wolvaardt was trapped lbw by Tendai Makusha in the 4th over (3.4) for 10 off 10 balls. Nondumiso Shangase joined Bosch, forming a solid 64-run second-wicket partnership that pushed the score to 99.

For Zimbabwe, the bowling attack struggled under the pressure; Tendai Makusha (1/23 in 3 overs), Michelle Mavunga (1/25 in 4 overs), and Lindokuhle Mabhero (1/40 in 4 overs) were the only wicket-takers. Nyasha Gwanzura (18 off 19) and Kelis Ndhlovu (13 off 14) tried to rebuild, bringing the total to 32 before Nthabiseng Nini removed Ndhlovu (c & b Nini) in the 6th over (5.3). Anneke Bosch continued her brilliance with the ball, trapping both Michelle Mavunga (11 off 8) lbw at 78/6 (11.3 overs) and wicketkeeper Modester Mupachikwa (13 off 26) lbw at 84/7 (13.5 overs). With the game out of reach, Christine Mutasa (30* off 26) and captain Nomvelo Sibanda (15* off 17) stitched together an unbeaten 45-run eighth-wicket partnership to ensure Zimbabwe comfortably batted out their 20 overs, closing their chase at 129/7.
South Africa’s bowling unit was led by Seshnie Naidu (3/26 in 4 overs) and Anneke Bosch (2/5 in 2 overs).
