In the ongoing South Africa Women’s tour of the West Indies, after the T20 series ended in a draw due to one of the three matches being washed off due to rain and both South Africa Women and West Indies Women winning one match each, the visitors have taken the 5 match ODI series, 3-0, with the remaining 2 matches scheduled for 16th and 19th September.
Since the series has swept away from West Indies women’s hands, they have decided to take this as an opportunity to give a chance to the youngsters who have been sitting on the bench ahead of qualifiers of ICC Women’s World Cup.
Thus, the team has made three changes to their 13 members squad, resting batter Chedean Nation, all-rounder Karishma Ramharack, and bowler Qiana Joseph. They are making way for all-rounders Sheneta Grimmond, Chinelle Henry and wicketkeeper Reniece Boyce. While Henry was a part of the T20Is played earlier in the series and for the 1st and 2nd ODIs, both Grimmond and Boyce last played a match in July.
Ann Browne-John, Lead Selector of West Indies Cricket Board for women, said, “As we prepare for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, the players have these two final matches to dig deep and get some scores and fine-tune their bowling.”
