After facing a clean sweep defeat in the three-match ODI series, followed by a 10-wicket defeat in the one-off Test, the Proteas registered their maiden victory in the 1st T20I of the multi-format series against host India at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
South Africa is currently competing in a three-match T20I series from July 5 to July 9. In the first T20I, South Africa recorded their first victory against India on their tour, winning by 12 runs and breaking India’s winning streak. India, after winning the toss, opted to bowl. South Africa set an impressive total of 189/4 in their 20 overs, with Tazmin Brits registering her highest individual score of 81 off 56 balls, and Marizanne Kapp adding 57 off 33 balls. Radha Yadav and Pooja Vastrakar were the standout bowlers for India, each taking 2 wickets. In response, India managed 177/4 in their 20 overs.
