South Africa is touring India from June 16 to July 9 for a multi-format series. After the three-match ODI series, the teams faced off in a one-off Test at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India posted a historic total of 603/6 before declaring their innings. South Africa put up a fight on Day 1, reaching 236/4, but were eventually bowled out for 266 on Day 3. Forced to follow on and trailing by 337 runs, South Africa showcased resilience, achieving their highest-ever innings total of 373 in Women’s Test cricket, bolstered by their highest 2nd wicket partnership and strong lower-order contributions.
On the final day, South Africa, following on, was led by Laura Wolvaardt’s resilient 122 from 314 balls. Nadine de Klerk supported with 61 runs, but the team was bowled out for 373. Sneh Rana and Deepti Sharma took 2 wickets each, with Rajeshwari Gayakwad and others contributing. India required just 37 runs to win, which they chased down easily without losing any wickets. Shafali Verma scored 24 off 30 balls, and Shubha Satheesh made 13 off 26, leading India to a 10-wicket victory.
