Players to watch out:

Shweta Sehrawat

The 20-year-old opening batter in the 2023-24 domestic season, from 12 one-day outings, amassed 533 runs and registered a highest of 242. Shweta is a very promising up-and-coming talent and has been particularly impressive in the longer formats. Given the season she has had, she’ll be counted on to lead from the front, notching up a big score.

Tanuja Kanwar

The 26-year-old left-arm off-spinner, from 7 outings in the One Day Trophy, took 9 wickets, maintaining an economy rate of 2.72, and in the Inter Zonal One Day Trophy, she scalped 10 wickets from 5 outings, maintaining an economy rate of 3.93. Tanuja had an outstanding season across formats and was also handy with the bat. It is hoped she replicates this success.

Laura Wolvaardt

The 25-year-old opening batter, averaging 48.14, has racked up 3948 runs from 94 ODI innings, registering 31 fifties and 7 centuries, with the highest being a majestic 184*. Laura, in her most recent series on home soil against Sri Lanka, notched up consecutive scores of 41, 110*, and 184*, and she can be relied upon to carry this form into the forthcoming series.

Ayabonga Khaka

The 31-year-old pacer, from 99 ODI innings, has picked up 127 wickets, including a best of 5/26, maintaining an economy rate of 4.15. Ayabonga hasn’t found much success bowling in India, taking 6 wickets from 10 innings but has been very economical. However, she is now an experienced campaigner and, with her variations on a slow wicket, can be very effective.

Pitch:

The center wicket at the Chinnaswamy Stadium is favorable for batters, and this is evident from the average score in the 280s. The flat center strip has just enough in it for bowlers, especially spinners with the potential for turn, while pacers can be effective upfront.

Weather:

Scattered thunderstorms on the radar pose a threat to the game and expect rain delays and interruptions if the skies don’t clear. The temperature is expected to hover around 26°C, with moderate winds and humidity at 74%.
