In the second warm-up game here on Sunday at Surat, Pacers Pooja Vastrakar and Mansi Joshi will be closely witnessed when South Africa Women bring on Board President’s XI.
Due to bad weather conditions, the first warm-up game was canceled on Friday. In India’s T20 team, Mansi and Pooja were appointed and a good display here on Sunday would offer them momentum for the five-match T20 tournament starting here on Tuesday.
Pooja Vastrakar is back to the Indian squad nearly after a year as she was out due to knee injury. A game or two will definitely give her the required rhythm. She has been working really hard past 6 months and with Women’s T20 World Cup just months away, selectors would be keen to access her performance and give her more match-hours.
The focus will also be on Shafali Verma, a 15-year-old opener. Also, Skipper Sushma Verma and vice-captain Devika Vaidya would be more than interested in putting up a wonderful display and impressing the national selectors. On the other side, as the first game was a washout, the South African team would look for some match practice and check their reserve players.
