The upcoming match between SouthEast Stars and Western Storm will be the 37th of the ongoing 03 edition of the 2023 edition of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. The game is scheduled for the 22nd of July, 2023, at The Kent County Cricket Ground, New Beckenham, and commences at 3:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
Squads:
SouthEast Stars – Bryony Smith, Alice Capsey, Kira Chathli, Claudie Cooper, Aylish Cranstone, Alice Davidson-Richards, Freya Davies, Sophia Dunkley, Phoebe Franklin, Dani Gregory, Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Bethan Miles, Kalea Moore, Emma Jones, Paige Scholfield, Alexa Stonehouse, Jemima Spence, Tazmin Britz, Kirstie White
Western Storm – Sophie Luff, Emma Corney, Lauren Filer, Danielle Gibson, Alex Griffiths, Nicole Harvey, Niamh Holland, Heather Knight, Claire Nicholas, Lauren Parfitt, Mollie Robbins, Chloe Skelton, Sophia Smale, Fran Wilson, Nat Wraith
Players to watch out:
Bryony Smith
The 25-year-old all-rounder, on her One-Day International debut, bagged a wicket but wasn’t required with the bat. Bryony hasn’t looked anywhere near her best in the tournament, scoring just 133 runs in 8 innings; however, she has been effective with the ball, scalping 8 wickets in as many outings.
Paige Scholfield
The 27-year-old all-rounder has been in an excellent run this season, scoring 331 runs in 8 outings, and also has registered 4 wickets to her name. However, Paige hasn’t started well in the 2nd leg, and the Stars would wish for her to rediscover her best at the earliest and also has learnings to bank on having been part of the England A squad this summer.
Sophia Smale
The promising 18-year-old all-rounder hasn’t had the best of the season, scalping 3 wickets and accumulating 28 runs in 6 games. Nevertheless, notably, Sophia has come stronger in the 2nd leg with handy contributions, the highest of 24 and consistently delivering economic figures.
Lauren Filer
The 22-year-old all-rounder has been brilliant in domestic cricket and was rewarded with a national call-up this season, making a lasting Test debut. Filer was excellent in the 1st leg of the competition as well and will return to pick up from where she left – 8 wickets in 4 outings.
Pitch:
The Kent County Cricket Ground, New Beckenham, provides a batting-friendly pitch, with a healthy average score in the 230s. Nevertheless, bowlers, particularly pacers, can prove to be impactful and pose a significant challenge to the batters on a wicket that’s got just enough for them to exploit.
Weather:
The temperature is forecasted to be around 17°C with humidity at 74% and moderate winds, there is also a high chance of rain, especially during the 2nd half of match hours. The conditions may play spoilsport, resulting in an abandoned game or a game cut short.
Fantasy playing XI:
Kira Chathli, Tazmin Britz, Sophie Luff, Paige Scholfield, Alice Capsey, Alice Davidson-Richards, Bryony Smith, Danielle Gibson, Freya Davies, Lauren Filer, Dani Gregory
