Namibia Women continued their perfect run in the Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series in Namibia 2026 with a convincing nine-wicket victory over Tanzania Women at the High-Performance Oval in Windhoek on July 25, 2026 (Saturday). Chasing 97, Namibia reached 100/1 in only 13.4 overs, winning with 38 balls to spare. The result gave Namibia two points and strengthened their position at the top.
Tanzania won the toss and chose to bat first, but Namibia’s bowlers kept the scoring under control from the beginning. Saum Mtae made 15 from 15 balls with three fours, while captain Neema Pius was dismissed for four. Perice Kamunya scored three before being run out, leaving Tanzania in trouble at 43/3.
Hudaa Omary tried to rebuild the innings with 25 from 24 balls, but she was dismissed by Victoria Hamunyela. Nasra Saidi then remained unbeaten on 23 from 42 balls, while Aisha Mohamed finished with nine not out from 18 deliveries. Tanzania eventually posted 96/5 from their 20 overs, a total that looked below par.
Namibia’s bowlers shared the workload well. Eveleen Kejarukua, Sylvia Shihepo, Mekelaye Mwatile and Victoria Hamunyela took one wicket each. Kejarukua was particularly impressive, giving away only 14 runs in her four overs. Hamunyela also bowled an excellent spell, taking 1/6 from two overs. Wilka Mwatile was economical too, conceding only nine runs in two overs.
Namibia made the chase look easy. Captain Sune Wittmann led from the front with a brilliant 56 from 46 balls, hitting six fours and three sixes. Her aggressive but controlled innings gave Namibia a strong start and kept the required rate comfortably within reach.
Wittmann added a useful opening partnership with wicketkeeper-batter Merczerly Gorases, who remained unbeaten on 30 from 35 balls and hit four boundaries. Wittmann was eventually dismissed by Sophia Jerome at 90, but the match was already firmly in Namibia’s control. Mekelaye Mwatile then finished the chase quickly, scoring an unbeaten eight from just four balls, including a boundary. Namibia reached 100/1 in 13.4 overs at a run rate of 7.31.
Wittmann’s match-winning innings earned her the Player of the Match award. Her performance was another reminder of her importance to Namibia’s batting unit and her ability to control a chase under pressure.
