Dynamites beat Challengers to claim Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament

In a thrilling showdown, the Dynamites emerged triumphant in the Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament, outclassing the Challengers by a comprehensive margin of 132 runs. Led by an unbeaten century from Sidra Nawaz and a magnificent bowling performance by spinners Ghulam Fatima and Nashra Sundhu, the Dynamites showcased their dominance in the final match.

Batting first, the Dynamites posted a competitive total of 211 for six in their allotted 45 overs. After losing opener Khadija Chishti early in the 10th over, captain Sidra Amin joined forces with wicketkeeper-batter Sidra Nawaz to steady the innings. The pair stitched together a crucial partnership of 52 runs for the second wicket.

Following the departure of Sidra Amin for a well-made 38, Sidra Nawaz held her ground and unleashed a flurry of well-timed shots. She displayed remarkable composure and skill, ultimately reaching an unbeaten century off just 112 deliveries, adorned with 13 boundaries. Her splendid innings not only contributed significantly to her team’s total but also marked the first century of the tournament.

Challengers’ spinner Noreen Yaqub put up a valiant effort, claiming two wickets for 53 runs from her nine overs. Throughout the one-day phase of the competition, Noreen emerged as a key bowler for her team, amassing a total of eight wickets.

In pursuit of the challenging target, the Challengers’ batters faced a relentless onslaught from the Dynamites’ bowlers. The Challengers struggled to establish partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals, eventually succumbing to a paltry total of 79 runs in just 28.5 overs.

Javeria Khan, the lone warrior for the Challengers, top-scored with 28 runs off 53 deliveries, including two boundaries. She stood out as one of the few players in her team to reach double figures throughout the match. Javeria concluded the tournament with an impressive tally of 161 runs from five matches, securing the second position on the batting charts behind Sidra Amin.

The Dynamites’ spin duo, Ghulam Fatima and Nashra Sundhu, wreaked havoc on the Challengers’ batting lineup. Nashra showcased her brilliance, claiming four crucial wickets for a mere five runs in her 4.5 overs, while leg-spinner Ghulam Fatima made a significant impact by snaring three wickets for just five runs in four overs.

Ghulam Fatima emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, scalping an impressive 12 wickets from five outings. Nashra followed closely with 11 wickets to her name.

Sidra Nawaz’s outstanding performance with the bat earned her the well-deserved title of Player of the Match. Meanwhile, Sidra Amin, the captain of the Dynamites, was honored with the prestigious Player of the Tournament award for her exceptional contributions throughout the competition.

The Dynamites’ victory marked their second consecutive triumph over the Challengers in the final of the one-day tournament, having previously defeated them by a massive margin of 190 runs in the 2018 edition. The Dynamites’ dominance was clearly evident as they lifted the Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament trophy and were awarded prize money of PKR 1 million, while the Challengers received PKR 0.5 million for their commendable efforts.
