Born in Delhi, Priya Mishra is a promising young leg spinner making waves in Indian women’s cricket. Known for her impactful performances in domestic cricket, Priya has built a reputation for her skill and consistency at a young age. She has represented the Delhi U-19 and Delhi U-23 teams.
The turning point in her career came during the 2023/24 Women’s Senior One Day Trophy, where she delivered a standout performance. Priya emerged as the leading wicket-taker, claiming 23 scalps and cementing her position as a key bowler in the domestic circuit. Her exceptional performances caught the attention of selectors, leading to her inclusion in the Gujarat Giants squad for the second edition of the Women’s Premier League. Although she did not get a chance to play, her selection for the league was a significant step in her career.
Priya’s talents soon earned her a spot on the India A team, which toured Australia for an all-format series in August 2024. She featured in the third One Dayer of the series, making an immediate impact with a stunning five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5/14 in five overs. Her outstanding performance continued in the one-off unofficial Test against Australia A, where she took an impressive six-wicket haul, further solidifying her status as a rising star in Indian cricket.
These performances placed her on the radar of the national selectors and her hard work and dedication paid off when she received her maiden call-up to the senior Indian team, named in the reserves for India in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Her senior national team debut wasn’t far as she was selected in the squad of 15 for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand in October 2024 and made her international debut in the second ODI, marking the beginning of her journey in international cricket.
