The 19-year-old young sensation from England Alice Capsey just delivered her career-best performance with the bat in the T20I format. She smashed her 4th half-century in the T20I format when she stayed unbeaten on 67, scoring at a strike rate of 111.66.

She anchored the run chase in slightly tricky conditions for the batters, not only ensuring England got over the line but also clinching the five-match T20I series against New Zealand. She was also awarded the Player of the Match for her match-winning innings (67 off 60 balls), playing a crucial role in her side’s 6-wicket victory against New Zealand.

“For someone of my age, I feel really experienced within T20 cricket and I feel really comfortable with my role at No. 3. I know that it’s not going to come off every time and I know that there’s going to be critics about how I go about the game. But on nights like these, it is just about going big and really securing the win.” England all-rounder Alice Capsey speaks about backing her approach to the game stepping out at number three in the T20I format.

She already has over 600 runs (638 runs) at an impressive strike rate of 123.40 and an average of 23.62 in 30 innings with the bat in the T20I format. Her tally of runs includes four half-centuries. She made her International debut at the tender age of 17 in the format on 23rd July 2022 against South Africa at County Ground, New Road, Worcester. Apart from her exploits with the bat, she has also picked up five wickets with the ball at an average of 24.40 and an economy of 6.42 with the ball.

She is just 19, and she still has a long way to go at the international level, and it’s incredible to see the amount of exposure, she already has at the highest level. She is just one short of completing 50 international, white-ball appearances for England at such a young age. She is yet to make her debut in the red-ball format for England.

“As much as I probably haven’t played the amount of cricket that I have in the past couple of years, I feel the most calm and controlled I’ve felt in a very long time. I feel really calm, I know what my options are and yeah, I just feel really confident and it’s amazing that if you’re in a good head space that you then take it onto the pitch and feel a lot better about yourself.” The 19-year-old young England all-rounder speaks about being in a good head space, while also feeling confident about her game.

Alice Capsey could play a vital role and could be the game-changer for England with the bat as well as with the ball in the near future. The upcoming edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh is just a couple of months away. The tournament will get underway on 3rd October 2024 and conclude on 20th October 2024. England will play the tournament opener against South Africa to kickstart their World Cup campaign at Mirpur from 2:30 PM IST.
