In the first T20I, batting first, the Netherlands were restricted to 89/8 in 20 overs. Robine Rijke top-scored with 33, while Onnicha Kamchomphu and Suleeporn Laomi scalped three wickets each for Thailand. In reply, Thailand completed the formalities in 18/4 overs with 10 wickets in hand. The opening pair of Nannapat Koncharoenkai (44 not out) and Natthakan Chantham (41 not out) powered their team to a comprehensive win.

Players to watch

Hannah Landheer: 

The right-arm medium-pace bowler of the Netherlands was the most economical for her side in the first T20I against Thailand. She bowled 3.4 overs and conceded nine runs. She was disciplined with her lines and lengths and hit the right areas consistently.

Robine Rijke: 

This right-handed top-order batter of the Netherlands starred with the bat in the first T20I against Thailand. She scored 33 off 40, including one six. She came into bat in the fifth over and was there till the penultimate ball of the innings. She held the batting innings of her team together.

Nannapat Koncharoenkai: 

The right-handed opening batter of Thailand led the run chase from the front in the first T20I against the Netherlands. She scored an unbeaten 44 off 62, including four hits to the fence, to steer her side to a 10-wicket win. In the process, she stitched a 90-run stand with her opening partner Natthakan Chantham.

Suleeporn Laomi: 

The wily right-arm leg-spinner of Thailand was one of the most successful bowlers for her team in the first T20I against the Netherlands. She claimed 14/3 in four overs. Besides being one of the most successful bowlers, she was also one of the most economical. She bowled well in the middle and death overs.

Pitch

It will be the tournament’s fifth game at the venue, with three ODIs and one T20I being played before. Out of the four fixtures played here, the teams batting first and second have won two each. The wicket looks good for batting. However, with the pitch having gone through wear and tear, it could be on the slower side.
