Match number 16 of the 2nd edition of the Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament will see Botswana and Kenya battling it out at the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium, Kigali. The proceedings are set to commence at 01:15 PM (IST) Indian Standard Time.
Oppositions find themselves on the bottom half of the points table and will look to deposit crucial points on the table going ahead in the tournament.
Squads:
Botswana – Laura Mophakedi (C, WK), Mercy Dipogiso (WK), Onneile Keitsemang, Oratile Kgeresi, Pako Mapotsane, Goabilwe Matome, Thapelo Modise, Amantle Mokgotlhe, Shameelah Mosweu, Tebogo Motlhabaphuti, Merapelo Phiase, Florence Samanyika, Goitseone Setshwane, Tuelo Shadrack.

Players to watch out:
Thapelo Modise
22-year-old Modise is a player seen rising to the occasion in the recent past. Her magnificent 61* against Kenya in 2022, threw light on her expanded capabilities. The right-hand batter hasn’t quite hit it off in the tournament yet, with a string of single-digit scores. The coming games will be crucial for her to fire and for Botswana to cross the line.
Melvin Khagoitsa
17-year-old Melvin has already made huge strides in the international circuit. With a bowling average of 20 and an economy of just 4.04, she seems like a great future prospect. In the tournament so far, she has consistently scalped wickets. Her figures include (2/15) versus Uganda and (2/1) against Botswana.
Venasa Ooko
25-year-old batter, Ooko has an improving average on the international stage. Recently her top knock of 57*(55) came against Rwanda which tells volumes about her skillset. The right-handed batter is yet to bring her ‘A’ game as she still has not accelerated to the optimum level, although she does have a couple of not-out scores, which she’ll take positively.
Florence Samanyika
Batting through the tough middle overs and delivering with the ball in crucial times is what Samanyika does best. With an increasing batting index over the years, she’s a huge asset to the team. Florence has over 400 runs on the international stage at an average that is steadily improving. She’ll look to register big runs on the board going ahead in this tournament and meet the expectations vested in her.
Pitch:
A well-balanced track with a slight advantage for the batters. But it’s only a matter of hitting the right lengths for the bowlers and restricting their counterparts to a lower total.
Weather:
Comfortable playing conditions are forecasted ahead of the game, with temperatures hovering around mid-20 degrees and no possible chance of rain.
Fantasy Playing XI:
Mary Mwangi, Venasa Ooko, Thapelo Modise, Monica Ndhambi, Queentor Abel, Ester Wachira, Florence Samanyika, Goabilwe Matome, Melvin Khagoitsa, Flavia Odhiambo, Lavendah Idambo.
