West Indies couldn’t put up a big target and had to settle with 103-7 in 20 overs with a decent performance only by Chedean Nation of 32 runs. This target was chased by the Indian women in a mere 10.3 overs with no wickets lost. Shafali Verma once again proved that there’s no stopping her with a knock of 69* in just 35 balls, strongly backed by Smriti Mandhana on the other end who scored 30* off 28. The player of the match award was won by Deepti Sharma for her four-wicket haul.
The 3rd T20I, to be held in Guyana, will decide if India are winning this series or if West Indies will make a comeback and show that they are still very much in the game. West Indies have lost their most consistent play and skipper, Stafanie Taylor to an injury, and will need to build up a decent partnership if they want to win this one. The bowlers will have to step up too.
