The home side, Australia are currently missing the services of their regular skipper Alyssa Healy who missed the ongoing three-match ODI series against India. Tahlia McGrath took over the leadership duties for the side in her absence. An impressive outing in the recently concluded, iconic 10th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) played a crucial role in her call-up to the Australian ODI set-up. She moved to her new franchise, Sydney Thunder ahead of the 10th season of the tournament, having previously represented Brisbane Heat.

She had a kind of a breakthrough season, as she was the 2nd highest run-scorer for her new franchise with 330 runs at an impressive strike rate of 144.73 and an impressive average of 30 in 12 innings with the bat for her side. She was also the 5th highest run-scorer of the tournament. Her tally of runs included an unbeaten and a match-winning half-century (97* off 56 balls) against the Sophie Devine-led Perth Scorchers on 15th November 2024 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

She was impressive on her International debut for Australia in the 1st ODI on 5th December 2024, at the Allan Border Field, Brisbane. Stepping out to open the innings alongside Phoebe Litchfield, with the home side just needing 101 runs to win. She kept her composure and guided her side over the line with an unbeaten (46* off 42 balls), to give the home side a series lead in the ongoing ODI series against India. She missed out on a half-century just by 4 runs.

The Australian stand-in skipper Tahlia McGrath won the toss and opted to bat first at the same venue in the 2nd ODI of the series. Georgia Voll, yet again opened the innings alongside Phoebe Litchfield and the pair stitched a massive 130-run opening stand. She completed her maiden half-century off just 43 balls. She lost her partner, Phoebe Litchfield in the 20th over of the innings.

However, it didn’t affect her even one bit, as she continued to build on her impressive outing in the company of the experienced veteran Ellyse Perry. She eventually converted her maiden half-century into a well-crafted maiden ton in the ODI format for Australia off just 84 balls, before being dismissed for 101 (87 balls) by Saima Thakor in the 33rd over of the innings.
