Both sides had a debutant each, Titas Sadhu for India and Georgia Voll for Australia in the 1st ODI at the Allan Border Field, Brisbane. Poor application from the Indian batters cost them big time as they were wrapped up for 100 as Megan Schutt produced her maiden five-wicket haul (6.2-1-19-5).
Former Indian cricketer Anjum Chopra expresses her disappointment on ‘under prepared’ India.
Chasing a 101-run target to go 1-0 up in the ODI series, openers Phoebe Litchfield, and the debutant Georgia Voll stepped out with a positive approach stitching a 48-run opening stand. Renuka Singh Thakur provided the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Phoebe Litchfield in the 7th over of the run chase. The Indian bowlers capitalised on the opening and struck a few blows. However, Australia comfortably got over the line with 5 wickets in hand and 202 balls to spare to go 1-0 up in the ODI series.
