The Royals winning the toss elected to field first, putting the Giants into bat. The Giants’ top order struggled to find stability against the bowling attack of RCB, as Beth fell early for 8 runs to a well-directed delivery from Renuka Singh.

Despite a promising start from Harleen Deol who scored 22 runs, a mix-up caught her short of her crease. Phoebe Litchfield contributed 5 runs from 12 balls before getting stumped off Renuka Singh’s bowling, and Veda Krishnamurthy fell cheaply off Molineux’s bowling, contributing 9 runs.

Ashleigh Gardner departed for 7 runs by Wareham’s bowling. However, Dayalan Hemalatha‘s resilient unbeaten knock of 31 runs helped the Giants reach a total of 107 runs against 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

RCB had a challenging time claiming wickets as a team during the WPL 2023 season, accumulating only 35 wickets in total. This tally represented the lowest number of wickets taken by any team in the 2023 tournament. However, this season, the Royals have shown some impressive bowling attacks, claiming a total of 7 wickets each in both their games.

In their inaugural match, Shobana Asha, the right-arm leg spinner, made history by becoming the first Indian to take a five-wicket haul in WPL. Following that, in the next match against Gujarat Giants, both Renuka Singh and Sophie Molineux showcased exceptional bowling performances for RCB.
