Team India will be back in action for the much-awaited ODI series against hosts Australia as the three-match series will begin on December 5. The first ODI is scheduled to be played at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane at 3.20 pm (AEDT) on December 5, 2024.
The Indian team led by Harmanpreet Kaur will head into the high-octane series against Australia after beating New Zealand 2-1 at home in October 2024. International cricket returns for the hosts – Australia as it will be their first bilateral series in any of the formats after the conclusion of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Both sides last faced each other in the 2024 T20 World Cup where Australia emerged as the winner in the league stage match. At the ’24 World Cup, India failed to make it to the knockouts, whereas Australia faced a surprising exit in the semi-final after South Africa handed them a defeat as Australia failed to make it to the finals for only the second time in the tournament’s 9-season history.
The previous instance where both the teams faced each other in the ODI format was during Australia’s all-format tour to India in 2023-24 in which Australia white-washed India in the three-match ODI series.
The upcoming three-match ODI series between both sides is part of the ongoing 2022/23- 2025 ICC Women’s ODI Championship. Australia is at the top of the table with 13 wins & three losses already advancing to the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, whereas India has 12 wins & two losses to their name which sits at number three on the table, but India automatically qualifies for the World Cup as hosts.
Head-to-head in the ODI format, Australia has had a dominant record against India. A total of 53 ODI matches have been played between both teams with Australia winning 43 out of them while India has secured only 10 wins.
