Bengal won the toss and chose to bat first. They had a terrible start with captain and opener Prativa Rana getting out on 1(3) in the second ball of the second over. Yesterday’s match-winner Rumeli Dhar could only make 20 runs in 22 balls before falling to Andhra’s Padmaja Ellutla who went on to take 3 wickets. Mandira Mahapatra and Richa Ghosh had a brief partnership before Ghosh fell to Saranya Gadwal in the 13th over. Mahapatra made 27 off 32 while Ghosh scored 21 in 18 balls. Gadwal’s second wicket came when she dismissed Gouher Sultana on 6(7). Jhumia Khatun’s 11(6) and Mita Paul’s 12(21) were also significant as Andhra would lose to Bengal by a margin of 12 runs later. Bengal made 106 runs while losing 8 wickets.

Andhra had a similar story to tell. After opener Jhansi Challa departed on 4(13) in the 4th over, captain Anusha Neeruggati stayed on to make 20 runs in 29 balls before Mandira Mahapatra ran her out. Most runs came from the bat of Padmaja Ellutla who scored 32 runs to add to her earlier taken 3-wicket haul. Vurukuti Latha 11(15) and Venkata Pothineni 12(19) took the team’s total to 94 runs, 12 runs short of the target. They lost 8 wickets in total – Rumeli Dhar and Gayatri Mal scalping two each.
