Nuzhat Parween’s unbeaten 74 powers Railways to a 71-run win over Jharkhand – Round I of Super League – Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2019
Nuzhat Parween’s magnificent knock made sure that Railways get a dominating win over Jharkhand in the 123rd match of the tournament. The T20 Trophy which now moves into the Super League stage, saw Parween contributing to a daunting total for the Railways.
Jharkhand won the toss and opted to field first at Chukkapalli Pitchaiah Cricket Ground, Mulapadu. The match was reduced to a 12-over per side game. Railways opener Meghana Sabbineni made 15 off 9 before falling to Jharkhand’s Mamta Paswan. Nuzhat Parween, who after a splendid Emerging Teams Asia Cup had come over to play for Railways, made a magnificent knock. She hit 74 runs at a strike rate which was above 180. Parween’s 41-ball 74 oozed of brilliance. Captain Sneh Rana complemented Parween as she hit 37 runs in 22 balls. Both of them remained not out as they powered Railways total to 129/1 in 12 overs.
Jharkhand on the other hand, crumbled under the pressure of the scoreboard. A string of 5 wickets fell at only 2 runs even before 4 overs were completed. The scorecard of Jharkhand read 2/5 when number 6 Ashwani Kumari fell on a duck to Preeti Bose. Rashmi Gudhia 22(16) and captain Niharika Prasad 26(30) tried to salvage the reputation, but by then much damage was already done by the Railways bowlers. Jharkhand could only make 58 runs losing 7 wickets in 12 overs.
Both Shubhlakshmi Sharma and Preeti Bose had 3-wicket hauls to their names while Swagatika Rath dismissed one batter.

Result: Railways win by 71 runs.
