Group C: Round VI – Radha Yadav’s 3 wicket haul hands Baroda victory as Veda Krishnamurthy’s Karnataka get defeat – Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2019

Match: Baroda vs Karnataka

Venue: Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Kandivali, Mumbai

Date: 22 October 2019

The Baroda vs Karnataka match was reduced to a game of 18 overs per side. The openers had a short stay at the crease in Baroda’s batting innings. Binaisha Surti and Palak Patel both had to depart when they were at 3(8). Wicketkeeper batter Jenita Fernandes looked promising as she made 24 runs in 25 balls. Captain Tarannum Pathan couldn’t do much after getting stumped on 5. Radha Yadav made 15(16) while Hrutvisha Patel remained unbeaten scoring 27 in 28 balls. Baroda finished at 97/6.

Chasing a modest total, Karnataka did not start as they would have wanted to. Both the openers had to walk back to the pavilion in 3 overs, leaving Karnataka at 8/2 in 2.1 overs. After that captain Veda Krishnamurthy and Rakshitha Kalegowda had a good partnership. Both made 20 runs each in their outing. But Kalegowda was run out in the 11th over and Veda was bereft of stable partners at the other end. It was in the 14th over that Veda handed a catch to Fernandes off a ball bowled by her national teammate Radha Yadav who bagged 3 wickets in the match. Karnataka could not recover and they made 64 runs losing 9 wickets in 18 overs.

Result: Baroda won by 33 runs.
