India women’s A team registered a series win over Bangladesh women’s A team in the 2nd ODI of the series.
The game which was played in the same venue of Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium at Chattogram, saw the Bangladesh women again winning the toss. This time they chose to field first.
The 50 over match was curtailed to 24 overs per side match. Opener Yastika Bhatia played a crucial knock of 32 runs of 48 balls while Tejal Hasabnis and Minnu Mani scored 26 and 24 runs respectively. Captain Devika looked good in her 20 ball stay in the middle and scored 22 runs before she was run out by Khadiza Tul Kubra. From the Bangladesh bowling line-up, Kubra and Ritu Moni took 2 wickets each. Shaila Sharmin also took the important wicket of Yastika Bhatia.
India A team gave a target of 134 runs for Bangladesh A team to chase.
In reply, the Bangladesh team started poorly. Opener Mursida Khatun fell for a duck in the 2nd over itself with Sanjida Islam departing in the 5th over scoring only 4 runs. Five top-order batters were removed cheaply for 12 runs and there seemed less possibility that the Bangladesh team would find any chance to recover.
Ritu Moni gave the team some hope, after scoring 25 runs in 49 balls. Sobhana Mostary and Nuzhat Tumpa contributed 13 and 12 runs respectively.
Bangladesh A team could only score 65 runs handing India A team a victory by a margin of 68 runs. Captain Devika Vaidya was the standout bowler of the side, taking 3 crucial wickets in her 4 overs and giving only 4 runs. T P Kanwar, Manali Dakshini, Simran Dil Bahadur and Tanushree Sarkar managed to bag one wicket each.
