Players to watch out:

Tahlia Wilson

The 24-year-old opening batter, from 44 innings in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), Australia’s premier T20 competition, has accumulated 753 runs at an average of 21.51, with the highest score of 83. Tahlia had an outstanding domestic season last summer, which she capped off with a fifty followed by a century, and she kicked off this summer with consecutive fifties. Given her momentum, she can be relied upon to lead the scoring.

Nicola Hancock

The 28-year-old pacer, from 107 outings in the WBBL, has picked up 99 wickets, maintaining an economy rate of 7.40, while also adding 280 runs to the tally from 54 innings, with bests of 4/20 and 40. Nicola very recently featured in England’s domestic season, and though she didn’t have a successful T20 stint, in her first game of this series, she produced figures of 3/14. It is hoped that she will capitalize on this return to form.

Priya Punia

The 28-year-old opening batter didn’t have the best of campaigns last domestic season and, from 6 outings in the 2023-24 Senior Women’s T20 Tournament, posted 131 runs at a strike rate of 111.01, with the highest score of 66. However, standing up to expectations, Priya notched up a mature 76 in this series opener and followed up with a solid 29. She is a seasoned batter and could have another good knock around the corner.

Meghna Singh

The 30-year-old pacer hasn’t been at her best of late, as evidenced by her 8 outings in the Women’s Premier League, India’s premier T20 competition, where she secured 5 wickets but conceded runs at an economy rate of 10.08. Meghna had an expensive first outing this series, returning figures of 0/40, but stepped up her efforts in the 2nd T20, returning figures of 1/20, and can be relied upon to extend this form into the subsequent games.

Pitch:

The center wicket at the Allan Border Field is a balanced one that offers a fair contest between bat and ball. While batters enjoy the opportunity to score well, with an average in the 140s, bowlers, especially spinners, benefit from the conditions.

Weather:

With rain on the radar throughout the match duration, there is a high possibility of the game being abandoned if the skies don’t clear. The temperature is forecasted to hover around 21°C, with moderate winds and humidity at 74%.
