Karabo Meso is one of the young rising players in South African women’s cricket. She is known for her good wicketkeeping, calm batting, and confidence at a very young age. Many people believe she can become an important player for South Africa in the future.
Karabo started playing cricket at a young age and soon became known for her skills behind the stumps. During her school days, she also trained with former South Africa captain AB de Villiers. She later said that the session helps her now stay calm during pressure situations in matches.
She has played for Lions Women, South Africa Women, and South Africa Women Under-19s. Her strong performances in junior cricket helped her earn a place in the senior national team at a very young age.
One of the biggest moments of her early career came in the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. Karabo completed eight dismissals in the tournament and was picked in the Team of the Tournament because of her excellent wicketkeeping.
In 2024, at just 16 years old, Karabo received her first senior South Africa call-up for the series against Sri Lanka. Since then, she has stayed around the national team and continued learning from senior players.
She also played for South Africa Emerging Team at the African Games, where she impressed with her wicketkeeping and helped the team win a silver medal.
Karabo Meso’s T20I Career
Karabo Meso made her T20I debut for South Africa against Sri Lanka on 30 March 2024. She is still new to international cricket but has already shown good potential. So far, she has played 8 WT20I matches and scored 27 runs. Her highest T20I score is 14 not out.
As a wicketkeeper, Karabo has taken 3 catches and completed 1 stumping in T20Is. She is known for quick hands and safe keeping behind the wickets. Even though she has not played many international matches yet, South Africa sees her as a talented young player for the future.

Karabo has also played domestic T20 cricket for Lions Women. In March 2026, she scored an unbeaten 18 against North West Women in a domestic T20 match.
She is still improving as a batter, but her wicketkeeping and calm mindset already make her an important young player.

Before the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, Karabo played in the T20I series against New Zealand in March 2026. During the series, she completed one catch and one stumping.
