Shreyanka Patil has rapidly emerged as one of India’s most exciting T20 all-rounders, known for her skiddy off-spin, fearless attitude, and ability to contribute in multiple phases of the game. After first attracting attention with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the inaugural WPL, Patil’s breakthrough on the global stage came in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League in 2023, where she became the leading wicket-taker for Guyana Amazon Warriors with nine wickets despite not having made her India debut at the time.
Her rise continued quickly thereafter. Playing for India A in the ACC Women’s T20 Emerging Asia Cup, she finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker before earning her India debut later that year in a T20I series against England.
Shreyanka Patil’s International Career
Patil has since become an important white-ball option for India because of her versatility with the ball. She has been trusted across all phases of a T20 innings — powerplay, middle overs and even at the death — thanks to her control, variations, and ability to bowl under pressure. In T20Is, Patil has played 21 matches, taking 28 wickets at an average of 18.60, with an economy of 7.04 and a strike rate of 15.8. Her best figures are 3 for 19. With the bat, she has added useful lower-order depth, scoring at a strike rate of 64.51 in limited opportunities.
Her biggest franchise success came during WPL 2024, when she played a major role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title-winning campaign. Patil finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, winning the Purple Cap after claiming 13 wickets in 8 matches, including a match-winning 4 for 12 in the final against Delhi Capitals. Overall in the WPL, she has taken 30 wickets in 24 matches, including best figures of 5 for 23, highlighting her consistency as a wicket-taking spin option in T20 cricket.
Patil’s flexibility makes her extremely valuable in English conditions. Her ability to operate in different phases gives India tactical flexibility, while her attacking mindset allows her to consistently hunt wickets instead of simply containing batters. Combined with her lower-order batting ability and athletic fielding, Patil offers India the kind of multi-dimensional T20 cricketer crucial for knockout tournaments.
