Officiating team of Women’s T20 World Cup 2018 Announced

International Cricket Council made public the names of its officiating team of 14 people, 12 on-field umpires and 2 match referees for the Women’s T20 world Cup ready to kick-start from the next month. The biggest tournament of the T20 format begins from 9th November with India taking on New Zealand and ends on 24th November. West Indies would serve as the host of the tournament for the second time and also the defending champions at the same time. The matches will be played in Antigua, St. Lucia and Guyana.

The adjudicating team announced by the ICC includes 10 men and 4 women, this time. The 4 women include the names of Sue Redfern, Jacqueline Williams, Kim Cotton and Claire Polosak. Sue Redfern is a former player of England, who began her umpiring career after taking retirement from playing cricket. Jacqueline Williams is the first woman umpire to stand in a one day domestic competition in West Indies. She and Sue Redfern together umpired in Oman Vs Nigeria match, where she was the third umpire. Hence, making a history to have a first men’s match with two female umpires ever. Kim Cotton is a New Zealand based Umpire who officiated at the 2018-19 East-Asia Pacific Qualifier. Claire Polosak is an Australian Umpire who became the first woman to umpire a match involving England Men’s Cricket team.

Among the men, 8 umpires: Ahsan Raza, Shaun George, Gregory Braithwaite, Nitin Menon, Wayne Knights, Sam Nogajski, Langton Rusere, Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and 2 Match Referees- Richie Richardson and Graeme La Brooy.

The Guyana team is made up by Braithwaite, Knights, Redfern, George, Polosak and Rusere and Richardson will lead the team
St. Lucia team will have Raza, Menon, Cotton, Sharfuddoula, Nogajski and Williams will be the Match Refree.

The three matches on the opening day will be played in Guyana. The first match between India and New Zealand will be umpired by Claire Polosak and Gregory Braithwaite, Shaun George being the third umpire and Sue Redfern as the fourth formal. Pakistan taking on Australia, in the following match on the same day will be adjudicated by George and Jacqueline Williams, Wayne Knights announced the 3rd umpire and Braithwaite as the fourth official. The last match on the first day of the tournament will be played between West Indies and Bangladesh. The match will be umpired by Langton Rusere and Redfern, Polosak- 3rd umpire and Knights will be the 4th official.
