Players to watch out:
Disha Dhingra
The 16-year-old opening batter has accumulated 144 runs from 10 Twenty20 International (T20I) outings and has also bowled some pace, but is yet to bag that maiden wicket. Disha proved her mettle in snippets during the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year and with a fine 63* in the tournament opener, has kicked off on the right foot and will be expected to capitalize on the start she’s had.
Isani Vaghela
The 17-year-old all-rounder in T20Is, in 10 batting outings, has chipped in with 78 runs and struck 10 wickets in 11 bowling innings. Isani has been bowling beautifully in the tournament and has bagged 7 wickets in just 2 outings. Isani kicked off her campaign by registering a career-best of 4/7 and followed it with a 3/9 against Argentina and Brazil, respectively.
Achini Perera
The 22-year-old all-rounder in T20Is, in 10 batting innings, has scored 122 runs and been handy with the ball as well, scalping 4 wickets in 5 outings. Achini kicked off her campaign with a score of 28, and though she was cheaply dismissed for 12 in the following game, she compensated with prized wickets of Alison Prince and Lucia Prince in a 3-over spell, producing figures of 2/6.
Krima Kapadia
The 24-year-old pacer, in 2 T20I outings in national colors, has picked up as many wickets. Krima didn’t have a bat or bowl in the opener; however, she looked very promising in her bowling outing against Argentina. She bowled her 2 overs, conceding just 6 runs, but more importantly, she struck twice, taking valuable wickets of Alison Stocks and Mariana Martinez.
Pitch:
The center wicket at Woodley Cricket Field, California, offers a balanced playing surface that slightly favors the bowlers. While it is good for batting, the average score in the 90s suggests the assistance that bowlers, particularly pacers can expect from the wicket.
Weather:
With partly cloudy skies overhead and a low chance of rain, the forecast promises a complete game of cricket at Woodley Cricket Field, California. The temperature is expected to hover around 23°C, with light winds and a humidity level of 66%.
