The fourth edition of the Women’s Hundred got underway on 23rd July and in match no. 7, the Manchester Originals took on the Trent Rockets. The Originals secured a thrilling one-run victory over the Rockets, successfully defending their total of 137. Following this win, the Originals got off the mark in the points table after losing their first game, while the Rockets suffered their first defeat of the season following a winning start. 1) Lauren Filer 2/26 (Manchester Originals):

The English pacer provided early breakthroughs for the Originals, who were defending a total of 137. Lauren Filer’s first wicket came in the form of Bryony Smith in the second set, which was also Filer’s second consecutive set, and later on, she dismissed Natasha Wraith for 17. With early inroads, Filer pushed the Rockets on the back foot. Later, she was rewarded with the Player of the Match award, finishing with figures of 2 for 26 (20 balls).

2) Eve Jones 34 (Manchester Originals):

Had it not been for Eve Jones’ 34, the Originals wouldn’t have posted a competitive total of 137. The left-handed walked out to bat when the Originals were 65 for 3 and was involved in a 52-run stand for the fourth wicket with Kathryn Bryce (32). She smashed two boundaries and two sixes in her innings before she got run out, which ended her innings with 34 off 25 balls. She was the top scorer for the Originals against the Rockets.

3) Nat Sciver-Brunt 56* (Trent Rockets):

The Rockets’ skipper scored an unbeaten 56 off 46 balls against the Originals, coming into bat when her side stumbled to 37 for 2, while chasing a total of 138. The English all-rounder was involved with Ashleigh Gardner (36) in a record fourth-wicket partnership of 86, which almost took her side to victory but fell short by one run. Nat Sciver-Brunt smashed eight boundaries in her unbeaten innings of 56.
