Skipper Heather Knight holds her nerve to take London Spirit over the line in a tense run chase against the defending champions.

The ongoing edition is the 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred. The two-time champions Oval Invincibles led by skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill defeated Birmingham Phoenix led by skipper Ellyse Perry by 45 runs in the tournament opener at the Kennington Oval.

The defending champions Southern Brave led by skipper Georgia Adams were all set to face London Spirit led by skipper Heather Knight in the 2nd match of the season. London Spirit skipper Heather Knight won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, the Southern Brave openers Danielle Wyatt and Maia Bouchier got their side off to a good start, with a 57-run opening partnership.

Maia Bouchier was found short of her crease to provide the first breakthrough for the London Spirit. Charli Knott joined Danielle Wyatt at the crease and the duo stitched a 20-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Erin Burns picked up Charli Knott’s wicket to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side. Freya Kemp soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 3rd breakthrough for London Spirit.

Skipper Georgia Adams joined Danielle Wyatt at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 22-run partnership for the 4th wicket to take their side past the 100-run mark. Erin Burns came back and picked up the wicket of the opening batter Danielle Wyatt to provide the fourth breakthrough for her side.

Chloe Tryon joined skipper Georgia Adams at the crease and the duo provided the finishing touches to the innings with a 41-run 5th wicket partnership to take their side closer to the 150-run mark. Danielle Gibson picked up the big wicket of the opposition skipper Georgia Adams to provide the 5th breakthrough for London Spirit. Southern Brave eventually ended up with a total of 151/6 in their quota of 100 deliveries.

Danielle Wyatt (59 off 35 balls), Maia Bouchier (35 off 21 balls), Chloe Tryon (20 off 13 balls), and skipper Georgia Adams (21 off 14 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Southern Brave. Erin Burns (10-4-6-2), Eva Grey (10-4-13-1), Sophie Munro (20-7-34-1), and Danielle Gibson (15-3-28-1) were the top performers with the ball for London Spirit.
