The Oval Invincibles and Birmingham Phoenix have locked horns thrice against each other, and the former, with a win in each contest, has an unbeaten 3-0 lead. In this edition, while the Phoenix are still hunting for their first set of 2 points after 4 games, the defending champions Oval Invincibles have managed just 1 win in 4 games.

Squads:

Birmingham Phoenix – Amy Jones, Issy Wong, Emily Arlott, Sophie Devine, Hannah Baker, Katie Levick, Eve Jones (C), Abtaha Maqsood, Erin Burns, Chloe Brewer, Sterre Kalis, Davina Perrin, Tess Flintoff, Abbey Freeborn, Charis Pavely

Oval Invincibles – Marizanne Kapp, Alice Capsey, Lauren Winfield-Hill, Lizzie Scott, Suzie Bates, Dane van Niekerk (C), Mady Villiers, Paige Scholfield, Eva Gray, Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Kira Chathli, Sophia Smale, Hannah Rainey, Cordelia Griffith, Claudie Cooper

Players to watch out:

Tess Flintoff

The 20-year-old uncapped Australian all-rounder came into the side at the 11th hour as a replacement for Ellyse Perry. With the kind of start she has had to her campaign, the Phoenix are surely not missing Ellyse. In her most recent outing, Tess struck a fine 45-ball 55 while opening the innings. With the ball, she has produced figures of 0/16, 1/10, and 1/11.

Hannah Baker

The 19-year-old leg-spinner struggled to have a good lead-up to the competition, scalping only 4 wickets in 3 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy outings and 2 wickets in 5 Charlotte Edwards Cup outings. However, Hannah has looked like a completely different player in The Hundred, producing figures of 1/20, 1/15, and 2/21.

Suzie Bates

The 35-year-old New Zealand batter, in 143 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), has piled on 3953 runs, including the highest of 124*, and has also struck 56 wickets. Suzie, with scores of 5, 13, and 22, hasn’t had the season she would have wished for but has got starts and could well go on to convert them into big scores.

Marizanne Kapp

The 33-year-old South African all-rounder, with 94 T20I appearances, has scored 1178 runs and taken 76 scalps. Marizanne, registering figures of 4/18, 1/24, and 2/22, has picked up the competition where she left off. However, runs off her blade are yet awaited.

Pitch:

The 22 yards at Edgbaston provide a somewhat neutral playing field as the conditions favor both batters and bowlers. Pacers, in particular, benefit from the conditions, and a score around the 130s can be deemed as competitive on this wicket.

Weather:

Despite the overcast conditions with mostly cloudy skies and moderate winds, a complete game of cricket can be expected as the chances of rain are minimal. The temperature is forecasted to hover around 19°C with a humidity level of 67%.

Fantasy playing XI:

Lauren Winfield-Hill, Amy Jones, Alice Capsey, Suzie Bates, Marizanne Kapp, Sophie Devine, Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Paige Scholfield, Tess Flintoff, Katie Levick, Hannah Baker
