Under the bright lights of the Mong Kok ground in the Hong Kong Women’s T20I Tri-Series, Hong Kong Women delivered a commanding all-round performance to outclass China Women by 61 runs in a one-sided yet absorbing contest. The victory was built on a composed captain’s knock from Natasha Miles and a disciplined bowling display that never allowed China Women to settle into the chase. The result further highlighted the growing strength and balance of the Hong Kong Women’s cricket team in the T20I format.

Hong Kong Women began their innings cautiously after being asked to bat, but the opening pair ensured there were no early nerves. Captain Natasha Miles anchored the innings beautifully while Mariko Hill played the supporting role during the opening partnership. The duo added 51 runs for the first wicket in 8.4 overs, laying a solid platform for the middle order. Hill contributed a steady 19 off 23 deliveries, striking two boundaries before she was trapped lbw by Wang Huiying. Although Hill’s innings was not overly aggressive, her ability to rotate the strike helped Miles settle in and dictate the tempo.
Natasha Miles once again showcased why she remains one of the most dependable batters in Hong Kong Women’s cricket. Mixing patience with timely aggression, the skipper paced her innings smartly and punished loose deliveries whenever China Women’s bowlers lost their lines. Alongside Yasmin Daswani, Miles stitched together another valuable partnership worth 51 runs for the second wicket. Daswani played an important hand with 21 runs from 22 balls, including two boundaries, before she was caught by Wei Haiting off Mingyue Zhu in the 16th over. By then, Hong Kong Women had already gained firm control of the innings.
The standout feature of Miles’ innings was her composure under pressure. She reached a brilliant 70 off 66 balls, smashing six fours and two sixes while maintaining a strike rate above 100. Her knock ensured Hong Kong Women never lost momentum despite wickets falling at intervals. After Daswani’s dismissal at 102/2, Kary Chan injected further energy into the innings with a brisk 14 off just 10 deliveries. Chan’s quick cameo included a boundary and helped Hong Kong Women push towards a competitive finish. Natasha Miles eventually departed in the 19th over with the score on 133, caught after producing the innings-defining performance that earned her the Player of the Match award. Maryam Bibi remained unbeaten on 5 from four balls as Hong Kong Women closed on 141/4 in 20 overs.
China Women’s bowling effort showed moments of discipline despite the challenging outing. Wang Huiying was arguably the most economical bowler, conceding only 13 runs in her four overs while claiming the wicket of Mariko Hill. Cai Yuzhi also bowled effectively, taking 1/21 in four overs and dismissing Kary Chan. Ma Ruike removed the dangerous Natasha Miles and finished with figures of 1/28, while Mingyue Zhu claimed the wicket of Yasmin Daswani but leaked 34 runs. Zhao Yihan, Gong Yuting and Jiaping Li struggled to contain the scoring during the latter stages as Hong Kong Women accelerated effectively.
Chasing 142 for victory, China Women needed a strong start, but Hong Kong Women’s bowlers immediately tightened the screws. Openers Wei Haiting and Jiaping Li attempted to build stability with a cautious 41-run stand for the first wicket. However, the scoring rate remained under control due to disciplined bowling and sharp field placements. Wei Haiting managed 21 off 38 deliveries before she became the first breakthrough, caught by Iqra Sahar off Joyleen Kaur in the 11th over. The wicket shifted momentum further in Hong Kong Women’s favour.
Jiaping Li tried to hold the innings together and scored 23 from 40 balls, but boundaries were difficult to come by against Hong Kong’s disciplined attack. Cai Yuzhi briefly looked positive during her seven-ball 5 before Joyleen Kaur struck again. China Women slipped from 47/2 to 62/4 within a short span as wickets continued to tumble. Mingyue Zhu scored only 3, while Gong Yuting added 5 before Kary Chan removed her to tighten Hong Kong’s grip on the match.
The pressure created by Hong Kong Women’s bowling unit resulted in multiple mistakes from China Women. Two crucial run-outs further dented the chase, with Ma Ruike and Feng Qian both falling without scoring. Wang Huiying remained unbeaten on 6, but by then the required rate had climbed far beyond reach. China Women eventually finished on 80/7 in their 20 overs, never seriously threatening the target.
Joyleen Kaur emerged as the pick of the bowlers with a superb spell of 3/13 in four overs, dismantling the middle order with accuracy and control. Kary Chan complemented her brilliantly, taking 2/12 from four economical overs. Iqra Sahar was also impressed with the new ball, conceding just 17 runs while claiming the important wicket of Wei Haiting. Alison Siu, Storm Parker and Maryam Bibi supported well by maintaining pressure throughout the innings.
The comprehensive win showcased Hong Kong Women’s superiority in all departments, batting, bowling and fielding. Natasha Miles’ captain’s innings provided the foundation, while the bowlers executed their plans flawlessly to secure an emphatic 61-run triumph in the Women’s T20I Tri-Series clash against China Women.
