As the sixth edition of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup is set to be hosted in the United Arab Emirates from 28 August to 13 September 2026, the tournament’s batting records deserve a closer look. From Chamari Athapaththu’s historic unbeaten century to commanding knocks by India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka’s leading batters, these are the five highest individual scores recorded in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup over the years.
Chamari Athapaththu: 119* off 69 balls vs Malaysia, Dambulla
Chamari Athapaththu remains the only centurion in Women’s T20 Asia Cup history. The Sri Lankan captain produced a breathtaking unbeaten 119 against Malaysia in Dambulla on 22 July 2024, during the fourth edition of the tournament. Opening alongside Vishmi Gunaratne, Athapaththu dominated the Malaysian attack with 14 boundaries and seven sixes. Her sensational innings powered Sri Lanka to 184/4 in 20 overs, before they secured a massive 144-run victory. She was named Player of the Match.
Chamari Athapaththu finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer, accumulating 304 runs at a strike rate of 146.85 and an average of 101.33 in five innings. Her campaign included two half-centuries and a century. She then guided Sri Lanka to their maiden Women’s T20 Asia Cup title, defeating India by eight wickets in the final in Dambulla. The innings also remains her career-best performance in T20I cricket.
Mithali Raj: 97* off 69 balls vs Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur
Before Athapaththu’s record-breaking century, Mithali Raj held the highest individual score in the competition. The former India captain struck an unbeaten 97 against Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on 3 June 2018 during the third edition of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. Opening with Smriti Mandhana, Mithali displayed her trademark control and composure, collecting 13 boundaries and one six. India posted 169/3 in 20 overs and completed a commanding 142-run victory, with Mithali receiving the Player of the Match award.
She ended the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer, scoring 146 runs at a strike rate of 105.79 and an average of 36.50 in five innings. India, however, finished as runners-up after suffering a three-wicket defeat against Bangladesh in the final.
Harshitha Samarawickrama: 81 off 69 balls vs Thailand, Sylhet
Harshitha Samarawickrama produced a patient yet authoritative 81 against Thailand in Sylhet on 4 October 2022. Opening alongside captain Athapaththu, the Sri Lankan batter anchored the first innings with an innings featuring 10 boundaries. Her contribution helped Sri Lanka reach 156/5 in 20 overs, and they went on to defeat Thailand by 49 runs.
Samarawickrama was named Player of the Match for her vital effort. She finished the tournament with 202 runs at a strike rate of 92.23 and an average of 25.25 in eight innings, including a half-century. Sri Lanka ended the competition as runners-up after losing the final to India by eight wickets.
Shafali Verma: 81 off 48 balls vs Nepal, Dambulla
Shafali Verma showcased her fearless brand of batting against Nepal in Dambulla on 23 July 2024. Opening with Dayalan Hemalatha, the explosive Indian opener hammered 81 from just 48 deliveries, striking 12 boundaries and one six. India posted 178/3 before completing an 82-run victory, while Verma was rewarded with the Player of the Match title. She ended the tournament as India’s leading run-scorer and the second-highest run-scorer overall, making 200 runs at a strike rate of 140.84 and an average of 50 in five innings. India finished as runners-up after losing the final to Sri Lanka by eight wickets.
Murshida Khatun: 80 off 59 balls vs Malaysia, Dambulla
Bangladesh opener Murshida Khatun delivered one of her finest tournament performances against Malaysia in Dambulla on 24 July 2024. Batting alongside Dilara Akter, she scored 80 from 59 balls, hitting 10 boundaries and one maximum.
Her innings helped Bangladesh post 191/2 in 20 overs, before they secured a comprehensive 114-run victory. Murshida was named Player of the Match and concluded the tournament as Bangladesh’s second-highest run-scorer, with 134 runs at a strike rate of 108.94 and an average of 44.66 in three innings, including two half-centuries.
