The Pakistan Cricket Board and England and Wales Cricket Board has announced that the England Women’s team will tour Pakistan from October 13th-21st. The series will comprise two T20Is and 3 ODIs. Previously Karachi was supposed to be the host but then it was changed to Rawalpindi.
This will be the first-ever time that the English Women will tour Pakistan. The T20 matches will be played first on 12th and 14th October. Following that, the ODIs will be played on 17th, 19th, and 21st October 2021. The two visiting teams of the English men and women will arrive at Islamabad on October 9th. In a release, the PCB stated that the matches had to be rescheduled due to operational and logistical reasons.
In a welcome statement, PCB’s Chief Executive Wasim Khan said, “We are delighted to welcome the England men’s team for what will be their first tour to Pakistan since 2005, and the England women’s team, who will be touring Pakistan for the first time.”
Clare Connor, the ECB’s managing director of women’s cricket also mentioned that she was delighted with this announcement. “The England Women’s cricket team has never toured Pakistan before so this is another important step in our history and journey. Not only will this be a cricket tour that provides a valuable competitive opportunity to both teams, it should also serve as another powerful and positive message as we drive forward our equality ambitions for more women and girls to derive empowerment through the sport.”
