Opting to bat first, Durham Women encountered immediate trouble against Somerset’s opening attack. Pacer Ellie Anderson struck in the very first over, bowling opener Mia Rogers for a two-ball duck to leave Durham at 1/1 (0.2 ov). Anderson kept up the pressure, removing Durham captain Hollie Armitage for 6 (caught by Bex Odgers) with the score at 9/2 (2.3 ov). Marlow found a reliable partner in Danielle Collins, and together they stabilized the middle overs. Collins chipped in with a brisk 17 off 18 balls before Chloe Skelton broke the stand, having her caught by Lola Harris at 69/4 (15.4 ov). Late-order fireworks came from Eleanor Larosa, who blasted a quickfire 44 off 31 balls (6 fours, 1 six). However, Anderson returned to bowl Larosa (222/8, 44.1 ov) and Katherine Fraser (9 off 16 balls) for 229/9 (46.1 ov), completing a magnificent five-wicket haul (5/40 in 10 overs). Among Somerset’s bowlers, Ellie Anderson starred with 5/40 (10), while Charlie Dean delivered an economical spell of 0/27 in 10 overs with 2 maidens. Lola Harris bagged 2/53 in 8 overs, while Chloe Skelton claimed 1/46 in 7 overs. Chasing 249, Somerset Women endured a rocky start. Eleanor Larosa trapped Somerset captain Sophie Luff lbw for 2 (13 balls) at 13/1 (3.2 ov). Holland played an outstanding knock of 70 off 90 balls (5 fours) before falling to Katherine Fraser (caught by Larosa) at 188/5 (33.6 ov). Dean took complete command of the chase, scoring a sparkling 76 off 70 balls (6 fours).
Durham kept fighting as Filer dismissed Jess Hazell (17 off 18 balls, caught by Villiers) at 217/6 (38.1 ov), and Grace Thompson bowled Dean at 236/7 (42.1 ov). But Alex Griffiths (15* off 19) and Chloe Skelton (7* off 8) remained composed to cross the finish line in 44.4 overs.
For Durham, Lauren Filer was the standout bowler with 2/56 in 10 overs. Eleanor Larosa (1/35 in 7 ov), Katherine Fraser (1/23 in 5 ov), Grace Thompson (1/25 in 4.4 ov), Mady Villiers (1/52 in 8 ov), and Katie Levick (1/56 in 10 ov) shared a wicket each in a hard-fought bowling effort.
