Indonesia, led by skipper Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini were up against China, led by skipper Mingyue Zhu, in the 2nd game of the opening day of the Asian Games Women’s T20 Qualifier on 26th May 2026 at the Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur. Thailand thrashed Hong Kong by 89 runs in the tournament opener at the same venue.

Indonesia suffered an early setback as they lost their top order inside the first seven overs after skipper Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini won the toss and opted to bat first. Ni Made Putri Suwandewi joined skipper Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini at the crease, and the duo led the recovery with a much-needed 48-run stand for the 4th wicket, which took them past the 50-run mark.
The Chinese bowlers bounced back by removing both the set batters Ni Made Putri Suwandewi (15 off 12 balls) and skipper Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini (37 off 46 balls) back to the pavilion in quick succession. The Indonesian batters were unable to recover as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Indonesia eventually managed 82/9 in their quota of 20 overs. Desi Wulandari (10 off 15 balls) was the only other batter to enter the double digits with the bat for Indonesia. There were as many as 6 extras in the innings.

Chasing a total of 83 on a tricky surface, China had a similar top-order collapse inside the powerplay. Wang Huiying joined skipper Mingyue Zhu at the crease, and the duo stitched a much-needed 31-run stand for the 4th wicket. Ni Kadek Fitria Rada Rani broke the stand, by sending Wang Huiying (12 off 18 balls) back to the pavilion in the 12th over of the innings to provide the crucial 4th breakthrough for her side.
Another vital 29-run partnership for the 7th wicket between Chen Xinyu (13* off 18 balls) and skipper Mingyue Zhu (32 off 38 balls) took them on the brink of a nervy win. Ni Ariani (4-0-14-2), Ni Made Putri Suwandewi (4-1-14-1), Sang Maypriani (4-0-18-1), and Ni Kadek Fitria Rada Rani (3.5-0-19-1) were the top performers with the ball for Indonesia.
