6 Associate Players to watch out in Women’s Asia Cup 2022

After a few years’ absences, the T20 women’s Asia Cup has marked its return and this time around is set to feature 7 teams in the tournament that’s scheduled to be played from the 1st to the 15th of October at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and the Sylhet Outer Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh.

The tournament is set to feature star players in Harmanpreet Kaur, Chamari Athapaththu, Smriti Mandhana, Bismah Maroof and many more. At the same time, there also will be a few inspiring players in action and below we bring to you 6 such from non-full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Elsa Hunter (Malaysia)

17-year-old, Elsa Hunter debuted for the side back in 2019 and since in 23 innings has scored 364 runs at an average of 20.22, a strike rate of 88.34 and with a fifty to her name has got the highest score of 53* to her name. During Malaysia’s recent series against the United Arab Emirates mid-this year, Elsa Hunter top scored with 95 runs in 3 innings, which included scores of 42* and 53*.

Esha Rohit Oza (United Arab Emirates)

24-year-old, Esha Oza debuted for her side back in 2018 and since in 39 innings has gone on to score 1119 runs at an average of 32.91, a strike rate of 121.76 and has got 4 half-centuries and a couple of centuries to her name with the highest score of 158* to her name. Esha’s form of late has been a decent one as she got to a few starts in games against Zimbabwe and The USA at the recently concluded ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier.

Nattaya Boochatham (Thailand)

The experienced, 35-year-old all-rounder has got to 469 runs in 41 innings and has got the best score of 56 to her name. With her off-breaks, in 49 innings, she’s picked up 71 wickets at an average of 9.61, a strike rate of 13.7, an average of 4.18 and has got 4 four-fer to her name with the best figures of 4/3. Nattaya in the recently concluded ICC Qualifier finished with 8 wickets in 5 games and registered the best figures of 4/8 against Papua New Guinea.

18-year-old, keeper-batter debuted in 2021 for the side and since in 26 innings has got to 721 runs at an average of 37.94, a strike rate of 112.48 and has got 5 fifties to her name with the highest being 68 that’d come against Papua New Guinea in the recently concluded ICC Qualifier event. In the same tournament, she also had a couple of starts against the USA (22) and Scotland (34).

Nannapat Koncharoenkai (Thailand)

The 22-year-old, keeper-batter debuted for her side back in 2018 and since in 39 innings has scored 706 runs at an average of 23.53, a strike rate of 80.13 and has got a couple of fifties to her name with the highest score of 62*. Nannapat’s best too was on display in the recently concluded ICC event where she registered scores of 47* and 42 against Zimbabwe and also had a 34* to her name that’d come against the UAE.

Sasha Azmi (Malaysia)

The 21-year-old, right-arm all-rounder debuted back in 2018 for the side and since in 11 innings has got to 56 runs with the highest being an unbeaten 16. With ball in hand, she’s picked up 21 wickets in 17 innings at an average of 12.85, a strike rate of 16.6, an economy rate of 4.64 and has got a four-fer to the name with the best figures of 4/20. During Malaysia’s 3-match series against Singapore, she register figures of 2/7, 3/10 and 4/20 and finished as the highest wicket-taker.
