The contest began with Argentina looking to make the most of their time at the crease, and their batters ensured Mexico had a difficult evening from the outset. Castineiras and Lehmann laid the foundation for a substantial first-innings score, putting together a productive opening partnership before the latter was dismissed for 39 off 28 balls, including six boundaries. Tania Salcedo claimed the wicket, breaking the stand at 145 in 10.6 overs, according to the scorecard’s recorded fall-of-wickets entry.

Castineiras continued to dictate the tempo, combining clean striking with an aggressive approach against the Mexican attack. She brought up 87 off just 46 deliveries, hitting 16 fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 189.13. Her innings gave Argentina the momentum they needed to build a commanding total. Anna Septien eventually removed the captain, with Jennifer Pastrana completing the stumping, as Castineiras departed at 145 in the 11th over.

With Argentina well placed, Cullen took charge of the scoring alongside Albertina Galan. Cullen struck 41 off 20 balls, with five fours and a six, recording a strike rate of 205.00. Galan contributed 36 off 22 deliveries, hitting five boundaries and maintaining the pressure on the Mexican bowlers. Their partnership helped Argentina accelerate towards the closing overs.

Septien struck again to dismiss Cullen for 41 in the 17.4-over mark, with Pastrana completing another stumping as Argentina moved to 231/4. The wickets, however, did little to slow the scoring rate. Francesca Galan managed nine off nine balls before being run out by Araceli Perez at 256 in 19.4 overs, while Constanza Sosa provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 16 off eight deliveries. Ana Dei Castelli remained unbeaten without facing a ball.

Argentina finished on 260/5 in 20 overs, setting Mexico a target of 261. The innings included 32 extras, comprising one bye, two leg-byes, 13 no-balls and 16 wides, which further inflated the total. Although Salcedo finished with 1/37 in four overs, Gabriela Gaby conceded 42 without taking a wicket. Septien claimed 2/61, Ivonne Rodriguez returned 0/52, and Perez took 1/65, as Argentina’s aggressive batting proved difficult to contain.

With the result all but decided, Amado remained unbeaten on zero from one delivery, while Maddelyn Fernanda was bowled by Dei Castelli for a four-ball duck. Mexico were eventually dismissed for 37 in 11.4 overs, falling 223 runs short of Argentina’s target. The innings featured 20 extras, including one bye, three no-balls and 16 wides, meaning extras accounted for more than half of Mexico’s total of 37 runs.

Argentina’s bowling performance was led by Francesca Galan, who returned figures of 2/3 in two overs, including a maiden, at an economy rate of 1.50. Mastrangelo took 1/7 in two overs, also bowling a maiden, while Lehmann claimed 1/7 in two overs. Emch picked up two wickets for eight runs in her two overs, Sosa finished with 1/6 in one over, and Dei Castelli claimed 1/5 in 2.4 overs. Their collective effort ensured Mexico never threatened the target.
