MI London, led by skipper Hollie Armitage, were up against the Manchester Super Giants, led by skipper Meg Lanning, in the 2nd game of the double-header on Sunday (2nd August 2026) at Kennington Oval, London, in the 18th match of the ongoing 6th edition of The Women’s Hundred 2026.
Trent Rockets edged past Sunrisers Leeds by 5 runs to solidify their chances for the knock-out stages of the tournament.
MI London made one change: Alexa Stonehouse replaced Danielle Gregory in the starting 11. The Manchester Super Giants retained the same side that took the field in their previous clash.
The visitors got off to a dream start, dismissing both the MI London openers in the extended 1st set of the innings after skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and opted to field first. The Hollie Armitage-led side struggled to get to terms with their home conditions. Amelia Kerr joined skipper Hollie Armitage at the crease, and the duo led some sort of a recovery with a 19-run stand for the 3rd wicket. Grace Ballinger broke the stand by sending Amelia Kerr (11 off 14 balls) back to the pavilion in the 5th set of the innings to provide the 3rd breakthrough for her side.
The home side just managed tiny partnerships of 17 for the 4th wicket between skipper Hollie Armitage (15 off 15 balls) and Nicola Carey, followed by a 23-run stand for the 5th wicket between Kira Chathli (18 off 16 balls) and Nicola Carey, which also took them past the 50-run mark. Chenille Henry (16 off 9 balls) provided the impetus, with a quick-fire 18-run stand alongside Nicola Carey.
MI London were eventually bundled out for 92, with a ball to spare. Ryana MacDonald-Gay (19-10-19-3), Sophie Ecclestone (20-15-7-2), Maitlan Brown (20-11-18-2), and Grace Ballinger (20-11-17-1) were the top performers with the ball for the Super Giants.
Chasing a smaller total of 93, the Super Giants openers Smriti Mandhana and skipper Meg Lanning took the major chunk out of the run chase with a decisive 73-run opening stand. Kirstie Gordon broke the stand, by sending Smriti Mandhana (34 off 27 balls) back to the pavilion in the 11th set of the run chase to provide the much-needed first breakthrough for MI London.
The Manchester Super Giants eventually got over the line with 6 wickets in hand and 28 balls to spare courtesy of a fightback from the home side. Meg Lanning top-scored with 43 (31 balls). Maddy Villiers (12* off 8 balls) was another batter ensuring her side got over the line. Kirstie Gordon (12-6-14-2) and Amelia Kerr (20-7-21-2) were the only wicket-takers with the ball for MI London.
Sophie Ecclestone was awarded the Player of the Match for her sensational spell (20-15-7-2) with the ball for her side. The Super Giants are placed 3rd on the points table with 14 points from 5 games in their campaign so far, registering their 3rd win of the season.
