After winning the toss, Germany chose to bowl first and quickly put Switzerland under pressure. Switzerland lost their first wicket when L. Pickard was run out for eight after scoring at a steady pace. The early breakthrough gave Germany confidence, and they continued to keep the scoring under control throughout the innings.

A. Sasidharan scored 12 from 14 balls with one boundary before she was caught by Aanvi Kishore off the bowling of Iris Edwards. V. Dhanuka then tried to build the innings with 17 runs from 23 deliveries, hitting two fours, but she was dismissed by Germany captain Asmita Kohli.

M. Rajan played the highest innings for Switzerland with 23 runs from 36 balls. Although she stayed at the crease for a long time, Germany’s bowlers never allowed her to score freely. She was eventually caught by Kohli off the bowling of Antonia Meyenborg.

Switzerland continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. F. Kuenburg was dismissed without scoring after being caught by Kohli off Ameya Kanukuntla. Captain D. Medagoda fought hard for her 22 runs from 26 deliveries, including one boundary, before Wilhelmina Hornero-Garcia dismissed her with a caught-and-bowled chance.

S. Dabholkar added four runs before being run out near the end of the innings. S. Divya remained unbeaten on one, while N. Saju finished not out on two. Switzerland were helped by 17 extras, including 14 wides, but they still managed only 106/7 from their 20 overs.

Germany’s bowlers once again impressed with a complete team effort. Ameya Kanukuntla was the most economical bowler, giving away only eight runs in her four overs while taking one wicket. Iris Edwards, Antonia Meyenborg, Asmita Kohli and Wilhelmina Hornero-Garcia also claimed one wicket each. Germany also showed excellent fielding by completing two important run-outs.

Chasing 107, Germany’s openers made the target look very easy. Wilhelmina Hornero-Garcia and Aanvi Kishore gave their team a perfect start and never allowed Switzerland to come back into the game.

Wilhelmina Hornero-Garcia played a calm and controlled innings, remaining unbeaten on 51 from 44 balls with five boundaries. At the other end, Aanvi Kishore was slightly more aggressive, finishing unbeaten on 52 from only 36 deliveries with five fours and scoring at a strike rate of 144.44.

The pair shared an unbeaten opening partnership of 107 runs and completed the chase in just 12.4 overs without losing a wicket. Their partnership was built on excellent shot selection, good running between the wickets and complete control against every Swiss bowler.

Switzerland tried six different bowlers during the chase but could not find a breakthrough. Samiha Konuganti conceded 24 runs in 2.4 overs, while M. Rajan gave away 18 runs in three overs. S. Dabholkar, N. Saju, V. Dhanuka and Parinitha Mundra also remained wicketless as Germany’s batters dominated from start to finish.

With another impressive all-round performance, Germany have now taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series. They will head into the third match full of confidence, while Switzerland will need a much stronger performance with both bat and ball if they want to keep the series alive.
